When you register on Quiz Universe, we collect the information you provide, including your name, email address, mobile number, and profile details. We may also collect information via Google or other OAuth sign-in providers.
As you use the platform we automatically collect:
- Quiz attempts (regular, maths, OMR, user-created), scores, answers submitted, and time taken
- Tournament registrations, payment records, and attempt history
- Token transactions (earnings, purchases, spend records, daily login rewards, referral bonuses)
- Wallet credits, withdrawal requests, and KYC documents you submit for high-value withdrawals
- Profile content you upload — avatar image, bio, district, and any user-generated quizzes you publish
- Comments you post on news, notes, and documents
- Study group memberships and join requests
- Bookmarks, follows, badges earned, and streak history
- Device type, browser, IP address, and approximate location (city/region level)
- Pages visited, features used, and interaction events for analytics
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and authenticate your sessions
- Display your quiz scores, ranks, and performance history
- Process tournament registrations, results, and prize payouts
- Credit tokens and cash prizes to your wallet
- Send important notifications (tournament reminders, results, prize credits)
- Send promotional emails if you have opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- Detect and prevent fraud, cheating, or misuse of the platform
- Analyse usage patterns to improve Quiz Universe's features and content
We use cookies and browser local storage to maintain your login session, store theme and language preferences, and remember your quiz progress between sessions.
We may also use third-party analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors interact with our platform. These cookies do not identify you personally.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings; however, some core features — including login and quiz progress — require cookies to function correctly.
Quiz Universe operates a virtual token economy and a cash wallet system. We store records of every token transaction (earned, spent, purchased) and every wallet credit or debit (prizes received, withdrawals requested and processed).
This data is retained for accounting, dispute resolution, and legal compliance purposes. Token balances and wallet balances are visible only to you and authorised administrators.
Withdrawal payment details (UPI ID or bank account information) that you submit are stored securely and used only to process your withdrawal request. We do not share these details with any third party other than the payment service used to execute the transfer.
Each user receives a unique referral code linked to their account. When you share this code and a friend registers using it, we record that connection so the referral bonus can be credited.
The referrer sees the referee's display name on their referral history page. The referee is not notified of the referrer's identity unless both users explicitly interact through other features. Referral connections are permanent — they cannot be unlinked after the referee registers.
Daily login rewards and streak data are stored in your account to award correct token bonuses. Your streak history is private and is not displayed on public leaderboards.
Tournament entry fees and token purchases are processed securely through Razorpay. Quiz Universe does not store your credit/debit card number, CVV, UPI PIN, or net banking credentials on our servers.
All card and bank transactions are handled directly by Razorpay's PCI-DSS compliant payment infrastructure. We receive only a payment confirmation reference, the transaction amount, and the timestamp from Razorpay.
Razorpay may collect additional information (such as device fingerprints) as part of their fraud-prevention systems. Their data handling is governed by Razorpay's Privacy Policy, available at razorpay.com.
For tournament prize withdrawals, the UPI ID or bank account details you enter are stored encrypted in our database and used only to execute the withdrawal. KYC documents (PAN, Aadhaar) submitted for high-value withdrawals are stored securely and retained only for the period required by applicable tax and anti-money-laundering regulations.
Your display name (or username) and rank may be visible on public leaderboards for quizzes and tournaments. This is an intentional feature of the platform — leaderboards are publicly accessible without login.
Your exact score, time taken, and rank position within a tournament are visible to other participants and site visitors once results are published. If you do not wish your name to appear publicly, please update your display name to a pseudonym before participating in tournaments.
Prize amounts awarded to winners may also be displayed on result pages. Your email address, mobile number, wallet balance, and withdrawal details are never displayed publicly.
We send transactional emails for the following events:
- Account registration and email verification (OTP)
- Tournament registration confirmation with full tournament details
- Tournament starting-soon alerts (sent ~15 minutes before the start time)
- Result publication and prize credit notifications
- Withdrawal request status updates
- Password reset requests you initiate
If you enable browser or app push notifications, we store your push subscription endpoint and public key so we can deliver alerts. You can revoke notification permission at any time through your browser or device settings.
Promotional emails (e.g. weekly digests, new tournament announcements) are sent only if you have opted in. Every promotional email contains an unsubscribe link. Transactional emails — those required to operate your account — cannot be unsubscribed while your account is active.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.
We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Payment processors: Razorpay receives transaction data necessary to complete payments and process refunds
- Email service providers: Your email address is shared with our transactional mail provider (SMTP) solely to deliver notifications you have requested or that are required to operate your account
- Cloud hosting: Your data is stored on servers operated by reputable cloud infrastructure providers under strict data-processing agreements
- Analytics: Anonymised usage statistics may be shared with Google Analytics or similar services. These services do not identify you personally
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, regulatory authority, or law-enforcement request
- Fraud prevention: We may share data with payment partners, law enforcement, or authorities if we detect criminal activity, money laundering, or serious misuse
- Business transfer: If Quiz Universe is acquired or merged with another entity, user data may be transferred under the same privacy obligations
Our platform contains links to external websites (job listings, news sources, government portals). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information:
- All traffic is served over HTTPS (TLS encryption in transit)
- Passwords are stored as one-way hashes using industry-standard algorithms — we cannot recover your password, only reset it
- Email is verified with a one-time code before any cash-prize participation
- Login attempts are rate-limited per email and per IP to deter brute-force and credential-stuffing attacks
- Sensitive admin actions are logged with timestamps and admin identities
- Database backups are stored encrypted and access is restricted to authorised personnel
- Sessions automatically expire after a period of inactivity, requiring re-authentication
Despite our best efforts, no system on the internet is 100% secure. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, change your password immediately and email support@quizuniverse.in.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal profile information within 30 days.
Some data is retained for longer periods for legal and accounting reasons:
- Payment and transaction records: retained for 7 years as required by Indian financial regulations and tax law
- KYC documents: retained for the duration required by anti-money-laundering regulations (typically 5 years from the date of last transaction)
- Tournament result records: (anonymised after account deletion) may be retained indefinitely for historical records and leaderboard integrity
- Logs related to fraud or abuse investigations: retained until the investigation is concluded and any legal hold periods have expired
- Backup snapshots: rolling backups are retained for up to 30 days for disaster recovery
Under Indian data protection law and as a matter of good practice, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information in your profile (most fields can be edited directly via the Edit Profile page)
- Download a copy of your quiz history, tournament attempts, token transactions, and payment records
- Restrict certain processing (e.g. opt out of promotional emails)
- Withdraw consent for non-essential data uses
- Delete your account and associated personal data (subject to retention obligations described above)
- Lodge a complaint with the appropriate data protection authority if you believe your rights have been infringed
To exercise any of these rights, email support@quizuniverse.in from your registered email address. We will respond within 14 working days. For data export requests, allow up to 30 days as we manually package and verify the data before sending.
You may request permanent deletion of your account at any time. To delete your account:
- Email support@quizuniverse.in from your registered email address with the subject line "Account Deletion Request"
- If you have a positive wallet balance, withdraw it first — wallet balances cannot be transferred or refunded after deletion
- We will verify your identity and confirm the deletion within 7 working days
- Once confirmed, your personal profile, avatar, comments, and identifying information are permanently removed within 30 days
What stays after deletion: tournament attempt records remain in the leaderboards as "Deleted User" so other participants' rankings remain accurate. Payment and tax records are retained per legal obligations. Your referral code is invalidated but your referees keep their bonus tokens.
What is permanent: deletion cannot be reversed. If you later return to the platform, you will need to register a new account. Previous quiz scores, badges, streaks, and tournament prizes cannot be restored.
Quiz Universe is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us immediately and we will delete the account.
Users between 13 and 18 years of age must have parental or guardian consent before participating in paid tournaments, making token purchases, or requesting withdrawals.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you by email or in-app notification.
Continued use of Quiz Universe after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the platform and may request account deletion as described above.
