What is the TNPSC Field Assistant Physical Test?
The Field Assistant Physical Test is a practical test designed for the nature of work associated with the Field Assistant post in the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited.
According to the TNPSC notification, the Physical Test consists of three activities. Candidates have to successfully complete the prescribed activities within the specified time.
TNPSC Field Assistant Physical Test Activities
Activity I – Pole Climbing and Cross Arm Fixing
In the first activity, the candidate has to properly wear the belt rope and climb a 9-metre PSC pole (approximately 30 feet).
The candidate has to carry one end of the rope while the other end is tied to a 3-phase cross arm. The candidate must:
Properly wear the belt rope.
Climb the 9-metre PSC pole.
Fix the wooden support for foot rest.
Tie the belt rope with the pole for safety.
Fix the 3-phase cross arm securely at the top of the pole.
Safely climb down the pole.
Time Limit: 8 minutes
The activity has to be completed within 8 minutes in one chance.
Activity II – Plaiting and Fixing of Conductor
The second activity involves practical work with an AAAC 7/3.15 mm conductor.
The candidate has to perform the following tasks:
Plaiting of rope with the AAAC conductor.
Marking and fixing the conductor on the creeper.
Binding and fixing in the HT Disc.
Inserting the M.Pin.
Time Limit: 2 minutes
The complete activity must be finished within 2 minutes in one chance.
Activity III – Lifting and Carrying V-Cross Arms
In the third activity, the candidate has to lift and carry 3 Nos. of 3½ feet V-Cross Arms.
The total weight is approximately 35 kg, and the candidate must carry the load for a distance of 100 metres.
Time Limit: 1 minute
The candidate must complete the activity within one minute in one chance without putting the weight down.
